There’s something so gentle about the way children make wishes.
No overthinking.
No hesitation.
Just a quiet hope, held softly in their hearts.
As adults, we often rush past these moments. But children? They pause. They believe. They feel.
And sometimes, all it takes is something as simple as a dandelion 🌼
✨ The Magic in Small Traditions
Growing up, many of us had little rituals around wishes.
Blowing out birthday candles.
Whispering a wish at 11:11.
Tossing a coin into a fountain.
Breaking a wishbone.
Catching a falling star.
They were small moments… but they carried something special — a sense of hope, possibility, and wonder.
Now, as a parent, I see these moments differently.
They’re not just traditions.
They’re invitations.

🌿 Why I Love the Dandelion Most
Out of all the ways to make a wish, dandelions have become my favourite.
Maybe it’s the way time seems to slow down.
Maybe it’s the softness of the moment.
Or maybe it’s what comes after.
Because when I ask,
“What do you wish for?”
I’m not just hearing a wish.
I’m hearing their thoughts.
Their little worries.
Their joys.
Their imagination.
Sometimes it’s simple:
“I wish for a toy.”
Sometimes it’s deeper than I expect.
And in that moment… I get to truly see them.
🤍 A Simple Practice to Try Today
Today, I invite you to pause – just for a moment.
It doesn’t have to be a dandelion.
It could be candles, a quiet whisper, or even just a question.
Ask your child… or someone you love:
✨ What do you wish for today?
Then listen.
Not to respond.
Not to fix.
Just to understand.
You might be surprised by what you hear.
And more importantly…
you might open a conversation you never thought you would have.
